ScenePainter is a tool for creating comics using a graphics component library as its media source.
Version 3.6:
- Remember if the application window was maximized, the last time, ScenePainter was run.
- Single instance mode: When the operation system/web browser is instructed to open SCC files with ScenePainter, open all scenes in the same window instead of starting a new instance of the application for every scene (NOTE: interprocess communication is handled via network sockets, this might cause trouble with some firewalls, see FAQ for details).
- Allow to toggle Dialogs being resizable from Windows|workspace|Dialogs resizable. NOTE: Resizing dialogs in not enabled by default because doing so may result in widgets being squashed/enlarged to unusable proportions.
- Slightly reorganized the ScenePainter application directory. Images (for image elements) are now kept in $SCENEPAINTERDIR/media/images instead of $SCENEPAINTER/images. This change should only affect new installations. Users, who update from 3.5 or previous versions will still use $SCENEPAINTER/images until they delete their config file and start the setup wizard again.
- New directory: $SCENEPAINTERDIR/templates. Scenes, placed within that directory are made available via File|Templates.
- A (template) scene can be set as the "default scene" via File|Make default scene. Afterwards, CTRL-N (new scene) will use that scene as a template for creating new scenes.
- If multiple scenes are open, they can now be cycled via CTRL-SPACE (COMMAND-SPACE on Macs).
- F12 now maximizes/de-maximizes the active scene.
- Transformer dialog is now disabled by default.
- Undo now works properly after elements have been dragged around the canvas.
- Fixed several menu mnemonics (they would not trigger if the underlined letter was pressed).
- Disable the "Reset names* button in the scenegraph dialog, when no nodes are selected.
- Enable the bubble element editor when switching from a non-bubble to a bubble element.
- Restructured the way in which scenes are written to SCC files. As a side effect, scenes are now grayed out while being saved, providing a visual clue.
- The application window now centers on the screen.
- Edit|Preferences is gone now. A different media config file can now be set via File|Mount media source
- Shrunk the downloadsize of the application by removing dispensable dependencies.
- Tooltips can now be turned of globally from Windows|workspace|Enable tooltips
- Closing a scene via CTRL-W (COMMAND-W on Macs) will now automatically make another scene the active scene (if there is another scene to activate).
- The webserver now reports the mimetype of SCC files as application/scenepainter. This allows for opening SCC files directly with ScenePainter.
- Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later
- Java 1.6 or later
